Wengé, also known as African/Congolese rosewood, is a tropical timber from Africa. The heartwood is very dark and dense and the sapwood is a distinctive pale yellow.  The distinctive partridge grain pattern includes black grains separated by dark brown grains.  Trees grow to a height of approximately 60' with trunk diameters up to 3'.  The wood is popular in woodturning and is commonly used mixed with lighter woods such as white oak.  It is often used for high-end and custom musical instruments and fine furniture and cabinetry.

Honduras Mahogany, also known as Genuine Mahogany, is a tropical latin American hardwood that grows to heights of 150' with diameters of over 5'.  Mahogany varies in color to include pale yellow, pink to red, and carmel-brown.  Sapwood is white to yellow-white.  Grains are straight and wavy and can have a beautiful curl figure that provides great depth with a good finish.
